Welcome lift for Halifax
Halifax finished a traumatic week on a high with a 46-24 victory over Barrow to leapfrog them into third place in the Co-operative Championship.
The Yorkshire club were disqualified from the Challenge Cup for fielding an ineligible player and both suspended and reinstated coach Matt Calland but they put their troubles behind them to run in eight tries against last year\'s champions and gain a touch of revenge for their Grand Final defeat.
Steve Bannister, Shad Royston and Stanley Gene scored tries to put the home side 20-12 up at half-time and Rob Worrincy, Luke Branighan, Jon Goddard, Bob Beswick and Paul White added further scores in the second half, with Lee Patterson kicking seven goals.
Andy Ballard, Chris Young, Richard Fletcher and Ned Catic scored tries for Barrow and Jamie Rooney kicked four goals in their second defeat of the season.
