Halifax hold on
Halifax held off an astonishing second-half fightback to complete a Co-operative Championship double over champions Barrow with a 42-34 victory at Craven Park to move into second place behind leaders Featherstone.
The visitors were well on course to avenge their defeat in last year\'s Grand Final when they led 24-0 after 30 minutes thanks to tries from Jon Goddard (2), Dylan Nash and David Wrench, all converted by Lee Patterson.
However, the Raiders scored six second-half tries through Keal Carlile, Michael Knowles, Martin Ostler, Andreas Bauer, Liam Harrison and Jamie Rooney, who also kicked five goals, to close the gap at one stage to just two points.
Halifax added further tries through Sam Barlow and Shad Royston to maintain their lead but they could not breathe easily until Rob Worrincy went over for their seventh try three minutes from the end, with Patterson kicking his seventh goal from as many attempts.
