Huddersfield Giants hooker Adam O'Brien has joined the 'Fax Family on a one month's loan period.
Best known for his outstanding performance at Bradford Bulls over the years, Richard Marshall described the 23-year-old Hooker as a "thorn in our side" over the past two seasons. He continued, " He's always played well against us, so I'm delighted to have him on board. He's an experienced number nine and will certainly speed up our game around the ruck."
Adam signed with Huddersfield Giants on a three-year deal this year from Bradford. He's also proved his level of talent in an extraordinary spell with Dewsbury Rams in 2013 and in England Academy U18s side. Halifax have the capacity to give him the game time he needs.
Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said “Rick Stone is keen wherever possible to get his senior squad in action week in week out and with us having a full-time squad of 31 this is quite a challenge (...) and the deal with Halifax will allow Adam to continue his development in the highly competitive championship environment."
Having lived in Halifax all his life, O'Brien began his career at King Cross Park ARLFC when he was 8, before moving to Siddal RLFC for his early teens. He's been seen in the stands at many Halifax games and has impressed Richard Marshall with his attitude towards the Club.
"Being a local lad I bit at the chance, to be honest." Adam told us. He went on, "It's a massive buzz for me to play for my home side after so long at Bradford and I'm proud to be a homegrown talent. I'm excited to play and hopefully we'll have a great game this weekend"
Marshall has confirmed Adam will feature in the squad for Sunday's fixture V Sheffield Eagles.
