Halifax RLFC are pleased to announce the signing of local lad Brandon Douglas from Super League side Castleford Tigers on a loan deal until the end of the season.
A prop or second row forward, Brandon bolsters a Fax pack still down on troops following the departure of Luke Ambler earlier this month.
He won Castleford's under 19s 2016 Player of the Season award, a feat also achieved by Fax hooker Brandon Moore, who took the honour back in 2015.
Described by Daryl Powell as "a player for the future who has no fear of any reputation. He was a stand-out performer in the under 19s competition
last season and I have no doubt that a run of games under his belt will see him develop and grow into a tremendous front rower."
Douglas made his Super League debut in 2016, coming off the bench to win the fans' Man of the Match award against St Helens.
But with Powell's men flying high in league and cup, first-team opportunities have been limited leading to the teenager heading out on loan to
Dewsbury Rams where he has made 10 appearances this season.
Head Coach Richard Marshall is happy with the addition to his squad.
“Brandon was brought to my attention by our head of youth, Martin Gonzalez, a while back as a very good prospect. He played very well in both matches against us this season – particularly the fixture here at The Shay. A couple of the senior players mentioned it after the game. Brandon will add more strike to our already strong pack.“
Brandon Douglas is proudly sponsored by Dave Kaye Associates, with Tony & Julie Payne the kit sponsors.
Note: The loan agreement does not have a call back option.
