Halifax RLFC have agreed to a one month loan of Jordan Syme to Rochdale Hornets. The young goalkicking utility forward, who has been part of Richard Marshall’s first team squad in 2018, has been a fixture in the Reserves team for the past few seasons and this move is designed to provide Rochdale with a promising young player, whilst allowing Jordan to gain valuable first team experience as part of his on-going development.
Reserve Head Coach, Martin Gonzalez, said “This is a great opportunity for Jordan to test himself at Championship level and, on his return, look to press for a first team spot whilst at the same time helping Rochdale out with a talented young player. We have seen in recent seasons that our reserves players have thrived once getting opportunities to play first team rugby, and we expect that to be the case with Jordan. We will continue to monitor his progress very closely during his spell with Rochdale.”
First team Coach, Richard Marshall, said "Jordan is a player we identified during pre season and rewarded him with a first team contract. With competition in the backs and a settled pack Jordan has found first team chances limited. We feel he needs to test himself at Championship level as he his coming to that stage within his development. Rochdale have been in touch and Jordan has jumped at the chance to play. It suits both parties and we hope Jordan will develop further with Rochdale and their coaching team."
