Halifax RLFC are delighted to announce that forward Jacob Fairbank has signed a new contract to remain with the club for the 2019 season.

Fairbank enjoyed another successful campaign with his home-town club in 2018, playing in every league game and featuring in both the front and back row.

The 28-year-old will also continue his work as a coach for the Halifax RLFC Foundation, alongside Dan Fleming and new addition Ben Kavanagh.

“When Richard came to me earlier this season and asked if I wanted to extend my contract for another 12 months, I was more than happy to,” said Fairbank.

“After this year, I’ve really enjoyed how things have gone and hopefully we can have another year of the same success.”

“It has been a good season with the success that we’ve had and with people writing us off and the odds being against us. I’ve enjoyed every season I’ve been here so far and it’s great to continue that.”

Richard Marshall added: “Jacob’s phenomenal with what he does off the ball and on the ball. I think he’s got some leadership qualities in him as well. He’s steered us around the park when Scott and Simon haven’t played and he's taken up that mantle really well.”

“He’s a local lad who loves playing for Halifax and the fans love him. He works in the community and he’s done a really good job in that aspect as well. He’ll continue to do that and spread the gospel of Halifax. He’s a wonderful player.”
