Halifax RLFC are delighted to announce the signing of half-back Reece Chapman-Smith from Leeds Rhinos on a one-year deal.
Chapman-Smith has been a part of the Leeds Rhinos academy since 2013, having played for Sandal RUFC and Oulton Raiders during his amateur days.
The 20-year-old - who can also play at full-back - also played in the 2018 Academy Grand Final and head coach Richard Marshall believes he’s an exciting talent for the future.
“We became aware of Reece’s availability towards the end of last season when he was playing for Leeds Rhinos Academy,” explained Marshall. “I’ve watched him play a few times and I thought that he would be a really good addition to the squad.”
“He fits the bill as either a half-back or a full-back. He played in the Academy Grand Final for Leeds against Wigan, and I thought that he was one of the best performers on that day, guiding the team around the field. He’s got a really good kicking game, that X factor.”
“He has had a tough time with injuries but if he strings a good season together with ourselves, he could force himself into our first-team. He’ll probably start with our Reserves but he’ll get his opportunity during pre-season and we’ll see where he goes from there.”
