Halifax RLFC kick off their 2019 Betfred Championship campaign with trip to relegated Super League side Widnes Vikings at The Select Security Stadium.
Head to Head
Fax will be looking to overturn their poor run of form against Widnes, having lost their last five matches against the Vikings.
In the most recent meeting, Krisnan Inu and Patrick Ah Van each bagged a couple of tries in a 26-12 win for Widnes in the Qualifiers.
Captain Scott Murrell returns to the squad after missing out during pre-season through a foot injury, although he won’t be joined by fellow half-back Ben Johnston who is around four weeks away from a return due to a thumb injury. James Saltonstall has overcome his hamstring problem to make the squad. Shane Grady and Reece Chapman-Smith are ruled out due to knee problems while Connor Davies misses out with ankle issue.
Ed Barber also returns from suspension while Mitch Clark comes in on dual registration from Castleford.
Widnes have injury problems of their own as key trio Krisnan Inu, Jay Chapelhow and Hep Cahill are all missing through injury.
