Halifax RLFC half-back James Woodburn-Hall says he’s relishing the chance to face his former club as Fax face London Broncos in the Coral Challenge Cup fifth round tomorrow night (7:30pm kick-off).
Woodburn-Hall won the Supporters’ Man of the Match after Halifax’s 48-24 victory away to Rochdale Hornets last weekend and the Blue and Whites will be out for their third straight win when they face Super League outfit London.
The 24-year-old began his career with the Broncos before joining Halifax in 2016 and he says he’s looking forward to the challenge that awaits Fax.
“I always like to have a dig against London and there’s a few of my mates who are still playing down there,” said Woodburn-Hall.
“I’m looking forward to it. It’s a mid-week game under the floodlights, which should be good. Hopefully we can put in a good performance.
“We’re going in there to win the game. It’s a Challenge Cup game, which makes it a little bit more of a free-for-all.
“Stranger things have happened than us defeating them. London are obviously going quite well so far in Super League, even though their recent form isn’t the best.
“They’ve taken some big teams out like Wigan and Leeds, so I’m sure they’ll be confident of winning the game.
“But, the last couple of times that we’ve played them at the Shay, we’ve beaten them. We’ll be looking to win, for sure.”
“There’s no pressure on ourselves, the pressure is totally on them. They’re now the Super League side, they’ve got to come to our home ground and get the win.
“Barring the Qualifiers, we’ve only lost to Toronto in the past year or so at home, so we’re confident in our home record.
“We’re just going to go there and play our game and we know that the pressure is all on them.”
