Halifax RLFC are delighted to announce the signing of Scott Grix on a season long loan.
The Halifax born, 35 year old International previously played for Halifax back in 2004 playing 18 games and scoring 32 points. The experienced super league back is looking forward to being back at The Shay;
“ It’s a brilliant opportunity for me to play for my home town club, especially with Simon still being involved.
It’s been a long time since I wore a blue and white jersey and I can’t wait to get it back on. Thanks to both clubs for making this happen.
As well as playing, the move to Huddersfield Giants has provided me with a fantastic opportunity to develop my coaching career as Academy Head Coach and also develop the back line for the first team, both of which I will continue to do. “
Scott Grix has made over 340 career appearances including over 250 in the Super League. Here’s what Simon Grix had to say about the new addition;
“ We are really pleased to add some much needed experience and versatility to our squad with Scott joining us.
Scott is and has been a consummate professional throughout his career, which will help us drive up our standards on and off the pitch. There is plenty left in the tank and I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Fax shirt again.”
Huddersfield Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented;
“Scott’s Manager rang me on Monday and asked for permission to look around for some more permanent game time than he is achieving here. Scott will initially do a month at Halifax as per the RFL regulations and then we’ll assess it from there. Grix will remain of course as our Academy Head Coach and fulfil those duties along with coaching and mentoring our young outside backs – in particular Darnell - as he has to date.”
Halifax RLFC look to grab another win this weekend against Barrow Raiders this Sunday (5th May) after managing to beat Sheffield last time out after a tough week and a change of reigns at the helm of the team going into round 12.
