The 23-year-old centre who is a product of Halifax having progressed through the Halifax RLFC Reserves has already agreed terms to join the Super League club for 2020. However, Butler has now joined the Giants on loan until the end of the season to enable him to start his Giants career.
Back when the deal was signed, Simon Grix commented; "It’s great for Chester to have this opportunity to go full time. It’s something that we have to be supportive of because it’s everyone’s dream. Huddersfield will develop him and try help him reach his potential because there’s much to come from him in his career and it’s great that he will have his chance.”
Chester Butler added “It feels like a dream come true to sign for Huddersfield. I've always wanted to go full time and properly test my abilities out, which I haven’t been able to do part time. Just looking forward to what I can do to my body and what I can learn to make me the best player possible.”
"Huddersfield is a club close to home and a team I’ve always watched since I was younger. Giants to me just felt right after speaking to Simon Woolford. I felt he could bring the best out of me as a person and player which was a big factor in me wanting to join Huddersfield"
Here at Halifax RLFC we are extremely proud of our Reserves system which is partially funded by the Fax Trust who do an incredible job. We take pride in progressing our home-grown players through to our first team and it’s time now to help Chester through to the next stage of his career and hopefully he will follow in the footsteps of his Grandfather Colin Dixon, Halifax RLFC Hall of Famer.
Halifax RLFC would like to thank Chester for all his efforts in the blue and white jersey and we wish him all the very best for the future!
