What's our Halifax RLFC Foundation been up to this August?

Halifax RLFC, the Foundation and their 3 community coaches, Dan Fleming, Jacob Fairbank and Ben Kavanagh have been busy out and about in Calderdale this August.

The 3 of them have completed rugby league taster sessions at 6 sites across Calderdale, at Beech Hill School, Mixenden Activity Centre, Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre, Luddenden Foot Youth Club, Pellon Network Centre and Field Lane School in Rastrick. These sessions are part of the Calderdale Council Youth and Play Services. We have delivered rugby league sessions to over 150 children who have not played rugby before. These participants will be given information about all our community clubs with a view to some of them getting involved in their local club and team. All these participants will be given a free Fax ticket for the Halifax v York game. The sessions also include use of our Blender Bikes.

The latest Heritage lunch club was also attended by our 3 community coaches alongside guest, Frank Watene! A very well attended afternoon which saw some great tales being told and an insight into the life of Frank.

On Yorkshire Day, the players also had giveaways at the Halifax Borough Market and in the Piece Hall giving away goodies and free tickets to children to get them interested in coming to the up coming games!

A first for the Foundation was a chair based exercise class run by Dan Fleming in a sheltered accommodation in Copley, We were working on ages 65 and over to get them more active.

The lads also visited Eureka as part of the 'National Play Day' giving away fax goodies and free junior tickets for the upcoming home games against Rochdale and York.

We also completed our 3rd England Talent Pathway (ETP) session at Calderdale College which was very well attended and had lots of feedback saying how much the kids enjoyed the day!

Still to come this August is a visit to Illingworth as part of their opening of their new pitches. Also in our diaries are holiday camps at 3 of our community clubs, King Cross Park, Siddal and Greetland Allrounders, We look forward to atttended these in the coming weeks!
