Fax Retain Fleming

Halifax RLFC are pleased to announce the retention of Welsh International Dan Fleming, taking the prop into his third season with his hometown club.
The Fax-born forward joined the club from Championship table toppers Toronto Wolfpack ahead of the 2018 season, having been a part of the Canadian sides maiden League 1 promotion winning squad of 2017.

And the local lad stated his delight to be going again in 2020 for the blue and white army of Halifax.

“Really happy to be staying at Halifax for another year, really enjoying my time at my hometown club", said Fleming. "I’ve been made to feel welcome from day 1 so it was a really easy decision to make."

"Recruitment has been brilliant so far, new faces around the squad. It freshens everyone up and keeps everybody on their toes. We're gonna have to have a big pre season. We've got the same core of players that we've had the last two seasons but adding this fresh crop of players is only going to be better. Last season we got to the Challenge Cup semi finals which is probably the highlight of my time so far and then into the qualifiers the year before that. So hopefully we can build on that and get into the top 5 again."

The former Illingworth ARLFC junior was a regular face in Simon Grix's side this year, and the Fax boss believes he can help the Welsh forward improve his game further still this off season.

"It means a lot to Dan to represent Halifax and I feel that is evident in his performances. At times that passion spills over and we will work on containing that and putting it to more devastating effect."
