Halifax RLFC are very happy to announce that Sion Jones has put pen to paper on a new deal at the club, extending his stay at The Shay until 2022.
Speaking with the media, the former Pontyclun Panthers amateur turned Leeds-based Student-Athlete revealed his intent to extend his tenure with the West Yorkshire outfit.
"Yeah I mean for me it was a no brainier, it coincides perfectly with my university, the club had been more than accommodating especially with me going into my final year. I also feel like I’ve still got a lot to learn yet and I don’t think any other environment would be good for me at the moment with regards to my development, there is still a load of stuff I can pick up from the front rowers already here as well as Simon (Grix)."
"Lastly coming off the back of a really frustrating year last year with injury ruling me out for the entire year and some of this year, I can’t wait to get stuck in and repay the club for the faith they put into me."
The Welsh international, a product of the clubs reserve grade system, became popular with the teams fan base following a burst of explosive performances in the Fax front row. However, a string of injuries have limited the promising young Barry native to just a handful of first team appearances in the blue and white, but the props potential is there for all to see, including his head coach.
"Sion has shown promise in recent years with his physical attributes and the punch he has provided us when called upon,' said Fax Boss Simon Grix.'Sion is on the road to recovery and we are looking forward to getting him back in the fold after having missed him this year. We will work hard to get him ready to go as soon as possible and look forward to the impact he can make in 2020."
